Assess the surface before choosing a method
A driveway, walkway and patio may be in very different condition. Send overview and stain photos, and say whether you know the materials, previous treatments or recent repairs. Open joints, loose stones and changes in level must be disclosed.
A cleaning method should not be chosen simply because a surface looks dirty. Compatibility with materials, joints, adjacent plants and access conditions needs assessment. No specific treatment or product is promised before the scope is confirmed.
Cleaning, upkeep and repair are different needs
Cleaning addresses an existing surface under agreed conditions. Upkeep can raise questions about joints or accumulated material, but leveling, stone replacement and reconstruction are different tasks. They must not be treated as routine washing.
Sealing and joint-sand replacement are not advertised as automatically included. If you want those operations, mention them to obtain a clear answer about availability. New paving stone installation remains outside the published offer until feasibility is confirmed.
Prepare the area and identify constraints
Furniture, pots and movable items affect planning. Agree who will move them and identify fragile objects. Describe available water points, access and any drainage constraints you know about; those details alone do not establish a method.
For a shared driveway or rental building, explain how the area can be cleared and users notified. Drying time or temporary use restrictions depend on the chosen work. Those arrangements need to be defined before the visit.
Set realistic expectations for stains and results
Some older marks, color differences or deterioration are part of the material itself. Cleaning does not guarantee a like-new appearance and does not correct structural defects. A precise description of stains and the result you want is essential to assess the inquiry.
Attach photos in natural light and give the approximate area. For summer 2027, the date, method, exclusions and access arrangements must be confirmed in the proposal. A quote request is neither a promise of results nor a booking.
Describe the known history of the paving
If you know about a past treatment, recent repair or joint changes, include that information. A previously treated surface may require different assessment from one with an unknown history. Do not claim a material identification you cannot confirm; a cautious description with photos is preferable.
Identify localized stains and differences across the whole area. A mark near a vehicle, organic buildup and a color variation are not necessarily the same issue. Scope should distinguish the requested cleaning from defects it cannot correct.
Plan how the surface will be used during work
A driveway may be used for parking, a path may be essential to residents and a patio may hold furniture that is difficult to move. Describe those uses so access arrangements can be discussed before a date is fixed. Objects, vehicles and shared constraints need consideration without assuming everything can be moved.
For a shared surface, identify who authorizes work and informs users. Work areas should not be occupied unexpectedly. Whether a temporary restriction is needed, and its conditions, depends on the method actually selected rather than a rule announced before assessment.
Request a precise scope rather than an absolute result
A goal such as “clean the existing patio and assess visible stains” is more useful than a request for guaranteed restoration. Aging, wear and previous repairs can limit the final appearance. Cleaning does not replace assessment of instability or a reconstruction project.
Before agreement, the proposal should identify areas, exclusions and arrangements. Installation, leveling, sealing and joint replacement must not be assumed included in the general term upkeep. Their availability needs independent confirmation.
Frequently asked questions
Do you install paving stones?
Installation is not advertised as available. It is a potential future service that requires confirmation before being offered.
Can every stain be removed?
No universal result is guaranteed. Stain age, material and its condition can limit the outcome.
Is sealing included?
It is not included by default in this offer. Mention the need to confirm availability and scope.
